Easter in the Ukraine

It’s been quite some time since we last spoke, and I have much to update you on. First of all, I hope that you all had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday. At the Potter’s House, we celebrated with our first ever Good Friday service that included Bishop Noel Jones, along with Vocalists Ann Nesby and LaShun Pace. We concluded our Easter celebration with a presentation given by The Potter’s House Drama Department. If you weren’t there, you truly missed a treat! (I hear there’s video on YouTube, sshh…). Following Easter Sunday, I had the opportunity to celebrate Easter on the other side of the world in Kiev, Ukraine. For those of you who are not familiar with the Ukraine, it was once a part of the USSR, and is bordered by Russia, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary. Joined with pastors from around the country, our trip to Kiev, Ukraine was historical for many reasons. Until about 1986, it was almost impossible to spread the Gospel throughout the country without some type of persecution. Over time, the Iron Curtain was brought down and slowly but surely the Gospel of Jesus Christ began to spread throughout.

For me, the trip was most enlightening as it is always special to see how others worship Christ around the world. To view the obvious differences in culture, yet the unmistakable power of His name, touched me deeply. Officials who had organized the event briefed me upon my arrival. They wanted me to know that they didn’t quite understand why DVDs of me preaching often shows the congregation standing up, shouting, or speaking while I’m speaking. Amused by their interpretation of our worship service, I let them know that I don’t ask or require that parishioners participate in the service in such an excitable manner, but sometimes you just can’t help it! They went on to inform me that Ukrainians tend to be more reserved in their worship and warned me not to expect much interaction between myself and the Ukrainians. I was fine with this. Having been blessed throughout the years to speak to audiences of different backgrounds, I just asked that the Lord give me a Word they needed to hear.

Well let me tell you, God moved in a mighty way in that place! I tried to find the words to explain my experience, but instead, I wanted to share this video clip with you. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Blessings,

Bishop Jakes

Your visit to Kiev is the most important thing that we as christians can participate in doing to bring hope to people who’s hearts are wanting for anything that will speak to their desire to be free from all oppression. God is able to do great and wonderful things in their lives when they know and learn that God loves them and wants to be their source of life. God has shown himself strong in my life, so I know from personal experience that yours and my life come from him. This video shows us that telling others of the things that God has done brings hope, help, and healing to a world that is in desperate need of good news. Avery

    Hello!
Thank you for sharing. I am amazed at how the “life of Christ” can quicken even the most reserved people in expressing the life of God in them. It is the SAME SPIRIT that raised Christ from the dead that quickens their mortal body when the gospel is preached.

I am reminded of the enormity, the power of our Lord. Every tongue, tribe and nation shall confess that he is Lord!!!

    Blessings!

I watched this video of the bishop in the Ukraine and I can say is God is the God of the impossible and no weapon that is formed against God’s appointed time will prosper. I still want to believe God to bring Bishop Jakes, Eddie Long and Noel Jones for a men’s only conference in South Africa. I also did raise this when the Bishop was here for the Megafest. Let’s watch God do it soon!

    Hi Bishop,

Reading your comments about the Ukrainians, before watching the clip, made this South African sit back with a huge proud smile, and all I can is say is DUH! No, one, but no one can ever sit still when the Holy Spirit is at work. Never seen it, never experienced it! The Ukrainians proved me right again!

Awesome! So refreshing to see God’s hand move across the nations! You need to come back to South Africa soon, Cape Town, specific, for nothing else but only for OUR MEN.

I am taking our Women’s Ministries group to see “Not easily Broken tonight”. Was blessed with book and thoroughly enjoyed it. Please continue to pray for marriages across the globe.

Once again well done in the Ukraine! Blessings (Ps: Don’t use that weapon of authority on the kids!) However tempted!

What a blessing to see such a movement and hunger for salvation. It looked as if the whole assembly came forward. The Ukraine, and much of Europe, has been war-torn and hurting for a long time. Thank you Bishop Jakes for sharing this experience. It has inspired me to be more diligent and fruitful for kingdom building in my own back yard.

Look at God’s living word manifesting. Thank you Bishop T. D. Jakes for this blog, thank you. The information in this blog means so much to me and especially today being early this morning. I heard a word from the LORD. and to read this blog, I feel the presence of the LORD. I was reading Matthew 24:21 concerning the great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time…and vs. 33 mentioning the doors, vs. 37-39 the days of Noe… the coming of the Son of man. What a day when we all look up and see the Son of man coming in the clouds. I am grateful to the Power of the Holy Ghost operating in my life, and most important at this time; I’m glad with knowledge, understanding and godly wisdom that I extend full hospitality to the Spirit. Again, thank you Bishop T. D. Jakes for this blog.

While watching the clip and seeing the people moving while you were ministering reminded me of: In thy belly shall flow rivers of Living Waters. My thoughts went straight to Genesis 1:1-3 …The spirit of God moving upon the face of the waters. Nothing stands still when the Spirit of God moves upon it. Glory! I feel the power of the Holy Ghost! Jesus!

Bishop Jakes, my family and I drove over three hours to be a part of the Communion Service. We were blessed beyond measures! The love that we felt in the place was inexplicable and our hearts were struck in awe of the word spoken through Bishop Noel Jones.

The video clip is awesome to see as it displays that the gospel is universal! It is not stagnant to the point that it cannot be expressed through interpretation or translation. The word has lasted through the ages and it has not lost its POWER!

No one can do the work of the Holy Spirit better than the Holy Spirit Himself. While Bishop Jakes was the vessel of honour used for the out-pouring of God’s touch on the Ukrainians, one must understand that humans being and their worship prejudices are no match for the power of the Holy Spirit. That is the beauty of being used by God; God did not expect Bishop Jakes to do anything other than to preach His WORD in obedience to His leading - the rest is up to Him. Not by power nor by might but by my spirit says the Lord. The WORD is the message and that message was received by the Ukrainians because sometimes, we forget that irrespective of race or skin complexion, the same problem found in America, Africa and Asia is also found in Europe and when a message meets a need, people - doesn’t matter who they are or where they come from - will always respond to its call. God bless you Bishop Jakes for allowing the leadership of the Holy Spirit and not you, to take control!

The coming generation isn’t raised with the faith views that we were as children.

I would like to chime in on this part. Lately, I have found that many households are NOT requiring much of their families or children in relation to attending church, providing morals & values, having a relationship with the Father. Where as when I was raised we had no option on Sunday. We were not asked if we wanted to attend Sunday school or Sunday Sunday service. It was a given. As I raise my son, I too leave no option. Many children are being left wide open for the enemy to have his way. It saddens me when I see the parent & the child just cursing up a storm and acting a fool wherever they go. How in the world can that child learn anything else aside from what they see at home? Yes, there are other avenues that one would pray would snatch that child up. However, the majority of direction starts in the home.

AND has far as people seeing “us” Christians as untouchables..well I would somewhat agree. I’m not saying all are like that but many are. If we are teaching religion & not relationship, we lose. If we are so concerned with the church program, we lose. We have to go out & reach out. The Bible speaks of this! It’s not an option. Don’t just invite someone to church, witness at that very moment. We are witnesses of Jesus Christ. What if that person can’t make it to church or just don’t want to come? Are we to leave everything up to the Pastor? NO! I can hear it now..people driving by the church saying, “there go them church people.” So, I ponder. I ask are we REALLY doing all that we can for the advancement of the Kingdom? Are we REALLY sharing the Word of God, witnessing & sharing our testimony? Are we?

    Prayerfully Submitted, Rhonda

    Dear Bishop Jakes,
Thanks for sharing this clip. It was powerful to see people are hungary for the True Word of God regardless of where they live. Certainly, God sent you to that place and His timing is perfected through His Willing People. For sure, the people were touched by God and there was someone in that audience that God grabbed ahold of and will never let go.
I remember back around 15 years ago when I first heard you on TBN speaking about Sarah. That message really grabbed me. I don’t believe there is any vessel better than you at telling the historical reality of the Bible in such a way that it grabs people and won’t let them go. Praise God.
I am praying that you and others will be able to continue speaking what God is saying in our country without reprisal. Truly we all need to be praying and asking the Lord to stop the progression of what is taking place in Washington DC. The Hate Crimes Bill will have tremendous reprocussions on Preachers and individuals who are Christian.
I am thankful that the people of the Ukraine are enjoying more freedom. Praise God.
Blessings to you and your family.

This was a great testimony of the awesome love of G-d that was demonstrated through you to the people in Kiev. It use to be Evangelist Billy Graham who was considered to be the world’s best preacher due to his travels. I must say that you have truly fulfilled the prophetic word about a black man carrying and showing the message love and deliverance.

For a former great, great, great grandson of an American slave to travel across the world and minister to people who are use to seeing and hearing white ministers from America, this is truly the spirit of reconciliation in the Kingdom of G-d.

I am so glad that you Bishop Jakes have fully embraced that international call that GOD has placed on your life, I believe that for many years you were content to minister “at home”. And even when a prophet has no honor in his home GOD will send him to the nations. I am humbly proud to be a fellow American with you Bishop Jakes and that GOD is using you to present true Christianity to the world who I believe has come to see us as less GODly than ever before. I was moved to tears as I watched the video in church. God is so AWESOME and AMAZING. I thank God that He moved me to such an anointed church and anointed people of God. The Holy Spirit can indeed move the most stoic of people because the holy spirit continues to move me each day as I yield to Him.

Please Bishop address a blog on “deceivers” because I have recently encountered a so called “man of God” who was the biggest fake I have ever met, and if the Holy Spirit had not led me to test what the man said by God’s Word, I would still be deceived. Thank God, I was able to discover this in 3 weeks rather than 3 months or 3 years. I know the bible says in the last days there will be many more imposters and deceivers of the truth. I just pray that my sisters in Christ will test the “spirit” of every man that comes in their life proclaiming to be a man of God.

An anointed word from God is just that—an anointed word from God. It goes beyond our small comprehension so that we can’t understand how the Spirit of God can come in and cancel out all our reasoning, our intelligence, our logic and make it of no bearing against His presence and His will for us. God is awesome and His power is hard to put to words in our small terms and thinking! He is also very consistent. God is so incredibly consistent. He moves in the spirit of one just the same as any other. The paths of people may be different but our God is the same and when He gets a real hold of you no matter who you are or where you’re from there is no way to keep still or be silent. How can you after a real encounter with God through Jesus Christ? When Jesus makes Himself known, I can think of nothing so phenomenal, nothing so blessed then to be in His presence and truly know that He is. All I want to do sometimes is shout praises to Him, to His name, and I am very reserved. But when you have been in something and through something and the Lord reaches in, the Lord now, not some man or some woman but the Lord reaches in to save you or even if He just comes to get to know you because of your love or desire to know Him, suddenly you know why you exist and you know that “no weapon…,” light breaks through darkness and gladness/joy engulfs your whole being and you just want to cry, laugh, and shout for joy. The world for you is never the same. It is no longer so cut and dry nor is it easy to determine its course because the one at the helm is mightier than any amount of intelligence or wisdom we might have or think we might have.

I know your ministry has an anointed word. I don’t care what people say or think about the ministry. I know this ministry is one God genuinely shows Himself through and uses for His purposes, His people, to give knowledge of Him to the lost, the needy, and even the already saved and anointed. So your experience in Ukraine, it is not surprising. I’ve heard your ministry attacked before by Christians and even from some folks that don’t even know the Lord, but no weapon and I am here to say even if you do wrong, who is anyone to judge what God has called out and used so mightily among nations of His people. I would dare not!

God bless you and keep this ministry always working for His will in Jesus mighty name! Amen

I am ready to do His commands: go into all the earth and preach the gospel to the poor… I know God has called me and choose me to teach His Word, the Word of God. Keep moving forward on what God has called you to do Bishop TD Jakes, the Lord hand is upon you, Amen!!!

If He overturned their political bondage to make sure that they could hear the gospel and be freed from spiritual bondage, I can rest easy about all these little problems I have! Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. In the midst of justifying to end my marriage of 16 years, I stumbled over your Easter in ukraine message. Abide, how fitting it was for me to hear that word abide. My wife and I are both proclaiming Jesus Christ. But still, appears. Trying to find reason to leave but abide still keeps popping up, trying to find a book to justify, but abide hits me again, I think I have reach the end of it all, but abide. Son getting a brush with death due to pnemounia and a sickle cell cricess, but abide . Hearing those words abide , turn me around, glory be to God. The hostilty and rage just went, Praise be to the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world. Looking for ways to get out, and they were there, But only to be stoped by the word Abide.

Continue to do what the Lord say do; for eyes have not seen , niether have ears heared the things what he has instored for us. Keep me in your prays as we labour together in the master’s vineyard. Abide has set me free.

Bishop I don’t watch a lot of you on web but I do on T.V. and you have been a real blessing to me. I have come through so many bad relationships and you helped me. My mother has lost 2 of her 3 children and I am the only one left me and my son and my late brothers daughter. I know that you all are so busy and may not have time for me but Bishop I really would like to hear from you personnally. I am a christain who is for real saved and trying to do the best I can to live right but it gets hard. I have a 18yr old that has Huntington’s disease and I am trying to care for a mother that is so depressed at times it just seems like there is no hope for her BUT GOD He is the only one helping her and me through this. Also, me and my husband has been seperated and he is blind in both eyes and he is only 39yrs old and it is hard on us because he has a criminal record when he was young. But again it is only God who is get through this. I Love my family but I need some prayer and would like if you could pray for us? Also your sermons about the cross that has been coming on they are such a blessing to me. Well I guess thats all. I hope and Pray that the Lord Jesus Christ continue to Bless you and yours. I hope to here from you soon.

    A Beliver in Christ,

    Bishop,

The Spirit of God is UNIVERSAL! There is no time or space or language barrier that can stop the Spirit of God from moving. He is just awesome as He gives us no matter where we are a right now word for a right now situation. Our brothers and sisters in Christ in the Ukrain needed to hear what the Lord used you to deliver to them. Thank you for allowing Him to use you once again.

They just got to hear and experience first hand what we are fortunate to receive every Sunday at the Potters House.

Much love to you and Sis. Serita. And it certainly was good to see her back in her high heels once again after such a long recovery from knee surgery. She looked fabulous. Please tell her that for me.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Bishop Jakes:

The United States of America is a spoiled child that takes everything for granted and will
not recognize, until it is brought down to it’s knees by something far worse that 911 or the
current economic crisis, that God is our only hope, our only answer. This video proves it!
To see what the Russian Communist Governments insisted over the years was a country of
people who did not believe in God so hungry to rush to meet the one they knew down deep
inside was all that they needed, puts America to shame.

Those of us who are the real, true Chrisitians in the U.S. are praying for (knowing the time
is here), the next and maybe the last great rival that begins in the nation God created
specifically to go and preach Jesus to the world, and will spread to the rest of the world.
We are not on the sidelines,we are in the battle lines, pressing on and just chomping at the
bit to be in the middle of it when it comes.

I came to your blog because I was looking to find a way (through your website). I just a few
minutes ago finished my first reading of “Reposition Yourself”. The spirit moved me to do
so before I begin the Real Estate Investing Business God has PLACED in my hands. I have
always wanted to help others….this opprotunity will give me the ability (with the training I
am receiving - totally unconventional according to the current housing and economic situations) to bring buyers together with those near or in foreclosure and make a commision
by doing so. A WIN WIN WIN for all involved!

God is so awesome, pushing me into this business, pushing me into reading your book.
I wanted something so totally different and small. God is able to do exceeding abundantly
more than I could ever ask or think!!!!!

Awhile watching that video,I now have a real appreciation as to why I had to go throuh and
still be in the middle of all the garbage and junk - God threw me into winter to give me a
wake up call to His Plan for me and to warn me if I don’t get with the plan, I’ll be broke,
busted and far more disgusted than I have been.

Thank You for heeding the unction to write this book! Thanks to those you recognized at
the epilogue as key to seeing the vision and running with it!

  76. Gloria Luther on 20.05.2009 at 14:25 (Reply)

I believe that people all over the world are hungry for Jesus. Thank you for being the “music” that God uses to draw people to Him. There is a passion about you that when you speak, excitement for God arises! You speak from your heart and it is evident that you have a relationship with God and you want others to share in it. You are authoritative yet humble, and you let others know that you have been where we are and we too can rise above our difficulties with God’s help. While we know that you are intelligent, you bring it to a simple level where it is easily understood and believed. God gets all of the glory for the reaction of the people and for the messenger that delivered the message! There are certain people that a person can be around and sense the anointing on them and that comes from time spent with God. I thank God that He called you and I thank God that you answered. There are many out there who want to know God and you are one of the instruments that He uses to teach of His love. I ask that God continues to bless you, your family, and your ministry. You are not only a speaker of the word, but a doer of the word! This brings respect for a man of integrity which in turn opens peoples hearts to hear the word and makes way for the Holy Spirit to move in each and every life. Gloria

Dear Bishop Td Jakes, I thank god for your obedience and your love for our God Jehovah, and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is because of the love that you have and the Anointing that He has placed on your life that many are coming to repentance and confessing there sins and giving there life to Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. “It is also the reason way many including myself are excited to here that you are coming to our town or planning another gathering for gods people to come together to lift our voices on one accord and proclaim the name of Jesus over our families, our neighborhoods, our country and the world. Be it on television or Manpower, Woman thou art loosed, Megafest, ect “….. We all are hungry for the true word of god, not just to hear it but to live it…….After his ressurection he appeared unto the disciples on several occasions. I recall jesus asking peter on three seperate occasions, Peter? doest thou love me? peter replied, yes, lord you know I do! Jesus then said, Feed my Sheep. after peter denied knowing him and wept, and hide. he recovered and you know the rest. Bishop, td jakes, with that same spirit, you have made a holy impression on my life as well as the lives of millions of people around the world, because you were also charged to feed my sheep! You don’t know me personally but I would like to simply say Man to Man, if no one told you today! I love you….I love you….. and thank you so much for your obedience , keep feeding Gods sheep.I have been nothing less then blessed thru your ministry, there is so much more to say but if it be his will I will write another time. God Bless you and all the ministries @ The Potters House. Sincerely, Alex Colvin [an Arrons Army Member.]

It is good to know that God got you cover with his glory, sometimes Bishop Jakes you don’t feel like sacrifiing or giving yourself to people. Knowing they are not going to be thankful or grateful. It is so wonderful to know that the Spirit of the LORD transcends, color, culture, attitude.etc. I was so blessed by just the 5 minute Utube video. The SPIRIT of the Lord that moves through you is so full of LOVE, it is irresistible.

This also happened to me when I ministered in the Netherlands,Belgium, Iceland etc. They advised me that the people were very reserved etc. BUT GOD…..

May the LORD continue to open the worldwide door to you as you take His Love, Power, Salvation, Healing, Peace and Joy to this world. We need it now, more than ever before.
Today I was able to figure out how to use my computer to get instream and get on your blog.
